Creating my first face chart

 Creating my first face chart

What I used:

  • assess skin type and contraindications
  • cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin before application
  • For the base I used Illamasqua satin primer
  • Kryolan light foundation
  • Kryolan light concealer
  • mix of kryolan blue eye shadows
  • translucent powder Illamasqua
  • sculpting palette, Illamasqua
  • mac cool eye shadow palette for eyebrows
  • black mascara and eye liner
  • mix of red and ruby red lip colour palette, Kryolan
  • Foundation brush
  • blending brush
  • powder puff
  • small angled brush
  • eye shadow blender brush
  • lip angled brush/thin brush
  • mascara wand
  • thin brush for eye liner

This is my first face chart design. In this picture the face chart is complimented by the light. On the paper I was disappointed with the way the cream foundation blended; I managed to smudge the foundation together and contour the face but it looked patchy in places. I then used powder to build on the design and try to blend the colours together.

I used a mixture of blue eyeshadows and fanned the colour out using a smudging brush, I like this effect because it elongated the eyes, I then went around the eyes with a thick black pen to create definition. I used the same pen to make eye lashes, this then made the look come to life, I think this face chart looks like a 'baddy' out of a fairy tale. I lightly did the eye brows careful not to draw the attention for the eyes.
I wanted to use complimentary colours to create a strong look that stands out, I used a mixture of dark reds, made lighter by the white paper, I also wanted to add darker shades at the sides of the lips but I couldn't get the right colour mixture. On my next face chart I want to be more creative and use more colours in the eyes and skin tone.
