THE PROSTHETICS EVENT 2015

THE PROSTHETICS EVENT

The Prosthetics event 2015 was held at Aston University in Birmingham. Upon arrival, me and Harriet watched many talks and demonstrations with inspirational artists. It gave me an insight into where I want my career path to follow, I have thought that prosthetics is something that I would enjoy because I am from an art background. Getting messy with all the products used to create amazing monsters and human add ons is something that interests me. My favourite demonstration was when two artists did a fantastic recreation of 'Laurel and Hardy' a famous double act in the 40/50's. The whole transformation took longer than two hours and was very interesting to watch. The two artists used the same materials, but used different techniques, Laurel's prosthetics made in one pieced pulled over the head then glued into place, an Hardy's prosthetic was made in two sections, top and bottom. Both turned out very impressive.

I enjoyed talking with a few of the artists that were showing their work and watching the body painting experts design amazing creations. I also enjoyed the show at the end parading the finished designs of body paint. I was very impressed with all the creations and prosthetics, watching a transformation being made has inspire me to think again about my future ad where I want it to take me.
